Blues’ opponents this Sunday, Leicester City, should have had a home game against Man City in the Conti Cup last evening (15th), but Covid in the latter’s team meant it was postponed. Today, Leicester men’s team had the same issue meaning tonight’s game against Spurs is postponed, as is Sunday’s visit to Everton. So, it will be interesting to see if the women’s game goes ahead. In the hope that it does, some thoughts.

Blues’ last game of 2020 ended in a loss to Arsenal which meant the team went into this year in seventh place. Twelve months later, Sunday’s bottom of the league game will mean staying in eleventh or dropping to twelfth and the relegation spot.

The two sides have only previously met in the Conti Cup group stage; the first time being the 2018-19 season. Blues were victors then and the following season and lost on penalties last season. Of nine league games played so far, Blues have drawn one and lost eight, whilst Leicester have lost them all.

On the strength of what we have witnessed since Darren Carter took the helm, I’m confident that Blues will take all three points in some style. I wouldn’t have been so confident of his predecessor. But something quite extraordinary has happened to the players. Everything the supporters have wanted to see happened almost overnight.

The game’s on FA Player and kicks of at 2pm.

Report to follow. Until then, stay safe and…
