Some excellent news from the WSL today in its monthly awards…
Carla Ward – Nominee for Manager of the Month
Regular readers will know that I have run out of superlatives for Carla Ward.
The difference she has made in the short time she has been with the Club is something that fans could only dream of. Well fans of recent times that is, since what we are seeing now is reminiscent of ‘The Good Ol’ Days’ that long standing fans were fortunate to witness. Confidence, spirit and heart are what Carla has instilled in her players and the fans at a time when there wasn’t much of any of those. She talks often about the players’ ‘hunger’ and sets aside disappointment with an ‘it’s time to kick on’.
Her nomination is hugely deserved.
Rachel Corsie – Nominee for Player of the Month
She may only be on loan from NWSL’s Utah Royals until January but Rachel is playing like she’s staying.
The 31 year-old central defender has settled into the Blues’ backline with Georgia Brougham and Rebecca Holloway. Together they have created a defensive force to be reckoned with, whilst at the same time having the confidence to play high. Rachel clearly enjoys the challenge of playing at both ends of the pitch and this paid off in last Sunday’s game at Bristol when she was one of four scorers.
She has brought to the Club a maturity that it needs and like her boss she also deserves her nomination.
If you would like to help Carla and Rachel win, you have until 30th…
