Blues host Manchester United tomorrow. The visitors held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw last week whilst Blues carry a loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.

United had an excellent first season in the WSL finishing fourth. Over the summer they’ve lost players and gained players. One of the latter is former Blues forward Lucy Staniforth. She came with a two game ban so will not play tomorrow. Another former Blues player, midfielder Hayley Ladd will appear. She played in every game last season and was even more formidable in her attitude and tenacity. Manager Casey Stoney will be hoping new signing Allessia Russo (North Carolina Tar Heels) will add some much needed power to the front line which struggled for goals last season.

Facing her former colleagues will be Mollie Green, who joined Blues at the start of the week. Head Coach Carla Ward had Green on loan in her Sheffield squad so knows her style and ability. The 23 year-old has settled well and is looking forward to getting back on the field. Ward will be looking to her to add power to Blues’ front line. Fellow new signing Scotland captain Rachel Corsie did not take to the field last week, much to fans’ consternation. The 31 year-old central defender must be in the Starting XI or questions will continue to be asked. Ward is adamant that her girls have the hunger to win and to win well. On last week’s evidence they’ve still some appetite to show.

The game is on FA Player and kicks off at 2pm

Reaction to follow. Until then..
