As fans gathered in spirit to settle down for the season opener the Club announced two new signings. Both of whom would be on the team list.

Jamie-Lee Napier

The 20 year-old Glaswegian, who plays either on the wing or at full-back, is the fourth Scot to join Blues and on a season loan from Chelsea.

Jamie-Lee began her youth career with Celtic before joining Hibs, in January 2018, where she played 33 games and scored 22 goals. Her achievement was rewarded by being voted 2019’s League Player of the Year.

That achievement was also noticed south of the border and led to her joining Chelsea in the December. As it transpired, she only made two appearances before the season was curtailed.

In the international arena, Jamie-Lee has represented her country at Under-17s and Under-19s level. Last August, she was also called up to the senior squad, for a UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 qualifier, but didn’t play. The opportunity to represent Scotland at Senior level can not be long in coming.

Jamie-Lee played all but five minutes of yesterday’s game and showed some great link up skills with Sarah Mayling down the right. Definitely one to watch.

Destiney Toussant

Following an ACL injury in April 2019, it’s been a long, long road back for the London Bees’ right winger.

Previously with Aston Villa and Oxford, in the old WSL 2 League, Destiney moved to the Bees in 2017. She appeared on a regular basis and scored eight goals in the next two seasons.

Destiney spent all but five minutes of yesterday’s game on the bench. In the short time she was on the pitch she showed that she has a lot of skill and awareness. Let’s hope Carla Ward gives her more minutes next Sunday.
