Dare to dream

As we wake up to the news this morning, that Blues are imminently going to announce the signing of Real Madrid shot-stopper Moha Ramos, Blues fans have taken to social media with one thing on their minds.

Do we dare to dream once again? This football club has a cruel habit of drawing us in only to break our hearts. Strange to think, that just over a week ago, supporters were talking about the polar opposite.

Fans are now buying into the new era. Fans are buying into the new brand of football that you can read about here. Fans are also buying into Dongball, our very own take on the moneyball tactic where clubs spend little on players that will give them the most, based on analytical data.

While I am led to believe the Ramos deal is for the U23’s, at the time of writing social media is rife with rumour over a certain Romainian U21 international. Inter striker George Puscas has left their Asian training camp to spend a few days with his family before he reportedly finalises a permanent transfer.

If Puscas comes to shove…

Now he is another player that fits the bill in that he is young, talented and of enormous sell on value. However, there are a few questions that come to mind over the plausibility of this. Why Blues? Well, we’re in England and that goes a very long well, especially given the ambition the club have show with their recruitment this season.

Why wouldn’t join a club in the Europa League? Stock. He could go and play for one of those teams we find it difficult to spell or say out loud without sounding like we’re being racist and then get a bigger move to someone equally as remote and boring; or he could play 18 months in the championship and get a really, really good move. That’s Blues’ USP.

Given that he could go to CSKA Moscow who have long admired him , or CFR Cluj in his homeland who are also reportedly interested I do think should Dong and Co really want this they could make it happen.

The only way is up…

Norwich built a team last season by shopping at Aldi and had a stunning season. That’s the end game. Do a Norwich. They played great football, bought players with pedigree and stock and clicked. Pukki was their talisman, maybe Puscas an be ours?

I feel like Blues are really trying to replicate that and fans will get a better look at our new style this afternoon. As for Puscas, we’ll have to wait and see.

Keep Righ On!

I felt more dejected than I’d felt in a long time when I first heard the news that Gary Monk had been sacked. It was that sense that Blues had once again pressed the self-destruct button. I didn’t get enthused with the news that Pep Clotet had taken over. Then, little by little, my optimism for the new season began to increase with newd of the new signings and young guns like Jude Bellingham being blooded in friendlies.

So, my brother and I took our usual seats in the Kop, hoping to get a performance against Brighton that our new found optimism and enthusiasm merited. We started brightly enough, Dan Crowley buzzing around like a wasp and looking comfortable on the ball. We’d had a good spell of possession when suddenly, Brighton caught us sleeping and scored with their first meaningful attack. We had more possessive and a couple of near misses, before they punished us again after a poor clearance from Stockdale.
We started the second half reasonably well, but what was becoming glaringly obvious that we had no pace or quality to go alongside Jukey up front. How we missed Che, as we huffed and puffed but with no cutting edge. Mrbati was totally ineffective, but was replaced by the even more ineffective Maghoma. What was clear to everyone that we needed a Pacey front man alongside Jukey, but there was never a hint that Vassell would appear. So, we eventually fell further behind and never looked at all like scoring. What concerned me was that if we are going to play this system, we need a pacey, quality striker.
My gut feeling was that Vassell will be on his way, because the game was crying out for him and yet he never made an appearance. Clotet somehow preferring the w*nk Mrbati and Maghoma to him.
I hope that he is able to find someone to play alongside Jukey, because without that, I can see us really struggling.

I know it was a pre-season friendly and we shouldn’t take to much from it, butvtge limited number of changes would suggest that the team for Brentford will look very much like the one today. Most of our optimism has disappeared, the only bit of it that remains is the hope that Sunjic will replace Davis in midfield and form a killer partnership with the excellent Crowley, and then thread passes through to a stunning new striker alongside Jukey. Hope springs eternal!
