Solihull College & University Centre [SCUC] will be the back of shirt sponsor for a second year.

SCUC and Blues’ Women have been in partnership for five years, with the former supporting the Development Team and the latter having a number of its players who are  College graduates.

The 2013 Agreement provided a professional link for the young ladies in the College’s Football Academy and, at the time, created a unique opportunity to be a student footballer whilst at the same time being mentored by professionals. The manager of the Academy was a certain Marc Skinner and in 2014 the College’s Women’s Team beat  Accrington and Rossendale College in the English Schools FA Cup Final at the Ricoh Arena. The team also won the English Colleges FA League [ECFA] and played its way into the quarter finals of the ECFA Premier Cup.

Between the posts was former Blue Sophie Baggaley who had more to celebrate when she was taken on as the Blues’ ‘keeper and selected for the Lionesses’ U19s squad.

She commented: “This is a dream come true for me, it’s exactly what we work towards and to know I have achieved this is a great feeling. I have been playing football since I was six and to be able to play at this level while studying is a fantastic experience”.

On the continued sponsorship Philip Trilloe, SCUC’s Head of School for Sport and Public Services said: “I am sure both the football club and college will continue to have great success together.”
