Brentford captain, Harlee Dean, is undergoing a medical at Wast Hills. According to Sky Sources.
The central defender’s contract is due to expire next summer, and he has rejected the chance to extend his stay at Griffin Park. Dean Smith offered him a contract extension but the 26-year-old is keen to complete a move away from West London.
Last season, Dean was voted The Bees’ player of the season by fans. Assuming the deal goes through without any late disturbances, it would mean Blues have snatched two club captains from their championship rivals this summer. The first was Marc Roberts from Barnsley. Dean, Roberts and Michael Morrison are all leaders.
The fee agreed between the two clubs is said to be around £2.2 million with add-ons further down the line.
This move could pave the way for Ryan Shotton’s departure. Middlesbrough have agreed a deal to sign the defender, but Redknapp is reluctant to part ways with him until a replacement is found.
Blues are expected to bring in more than two additions this week.
