Harry Redknapp is close to signing Stewart Downing from Middlesbrough.
The 33-year-old was set to have a Blues medical last week, but issues arose due to wage demands and a compromise was unable to be reached.
But it now seems like the move is close, MirrorSport journalist, James Nursey, has reported that Redknapp is edging closer to making Downing his fourth summer addition. The former England winger wouldn’t require a fee, he is free to leave Gary Monk’s side.
Blues are also expected to make a second move for Preston striker Jordan Hugill, after an initial bid was knocked back. It has also been reported that Redknapp is interested in Bristol City defender Aden Flint alongside Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Badu.
