Blues’ pre-season looks to be in full swing. Paul Groves has put pen to paper and agreed a one-year rolling contract with the club as part of Redknapp’s backroom staff. Kevin Bond, who was assistant manager under Harry whilst at Spurs and QPR, has also agreed a deal, he will become assistant manager.
Redknapp has been linked with a plethora of players thus far. Crouch, Robbie Keane, Connor Washington and Will Grigg; the list is long. Yesterday it was said that Blues would spend sensibly in the summer, which of course, means nothing as manager’s don’t tend to say they are going to spend recklessly.
With the players that have been linked with Blues so far, how many would actually improve the side? Crouch would, he’s an asset to any side with his height and presence. But, the likes of Kranjcar and Will Grigg simply aren’t fit for a side with play-off ambitions. The team are in need of a creative midfielder; Lee Tomlin is set to leave Bristol City and he is a player whose proven at this level. His performances for Middlesbrough were immense, leading to him moving to premier league side Bournemouth before leaving the Cherries shortly after. He has undoubted quality at championship level, and would be a player who could without doubt improve Blues’ attacking impetus.
The Birmingham City official website have quoted that Redknapp already has: “A few irons in the fire.” – transfer activity could be round the corner already.
Another exciting announcement was made earlier; the new away kit will be released in the coming days.
