New boy Brock-Madsen set for Blues bow

22-year-old striker Nicolai Brock-Madsen is poised to make his Birmingham City debut on Tuesday night, as Gillingham visit St Andrew’s in the Capital One Cup.

The striker, who signed from Danish outfit Randers FC on Friday, missed Blues’ 2-2 draw at home to Derby on the same day but is set to feature tomorrow, subject to international clearance.

Blues boss Gary Rowett splashed his record transfer fee on the young forward – an undisclosed sum thought to be around £500,000 – and is keen for his new arrival to get a run out.

“We want some real hunger, some real desire up there and some younger legs.

“There are going to be times when Clayton Donaldson needs a rest, times when Clayton needs a partner, there might be times when Clayton needs a replacement.

“And I think we needed the type Brock – as he likes to be known – is.

“He’s 22, I think he will develop into a terrific player,” he said.

Brock-Madsen’s League Cup bow presents a tricky tie for Blues to negotiate, with the Gills currently occupying top spot in League One.
