Unusual End to the Season?

With the end of October 2014 looming, Blues sitting in 23rd place, managerless and on the back end of an 8-0 thrashing, Bluenoses were expecting the worst and a long, long season looked to be on the cards. With only two league wins under our belt, relegation looked more than a possibility. However, a certain Gary Rowett came onto the scene and five months later, The Blues are sat in 15th place and 13 points clear from relegation; a miracle to say at the least!

JS36004652-MediumFollowing Saturday’s 1-1 home draw against Huddersfield, Championship security is more or less sealed. With a promotion, a mid-table finish in the Premier League, a League Cup, a relegation, play off semi finals, Europa League and surviving relegation on the last day with a 93rd minute equaliser in the last six years, it’s safe to say that this year will be a lot quieter than latter years.

Thoughts will soon turn to the squad for next year. Assuming the club hasn’t been sold, the players I think we should keep are as follows: Darren Randolph, Paul Caddis, Michael Morrison, Jonathon Grounds, David Cotterill, David Davis and Clayton Donaldson. It could be time to cash in on Demarai Gray who, since all the speculation in January hasn’t performed to the best of his ability.

Blues desperately need a prolific striker and another solid centre back but without an influx of cash I can’t really see us competing for play off places, or going down either.

Hopefully, by next season, things will have progressed, a Quatarian oil prince will buy us, we’ll be back in the Premier League, Lionel Messi will be leading the line and the Champions League will be visiting St.Andrews.

What are you hoping for the final stages of the season?
