On Monday 24th June, the Redditch Birmingham City Supporters Club met for the first time for the 2013/14 season at their AGM as they look forward to the 21st year of the club’s history, optimistic that it will be one to remember on and off the field.

The club was founded by a group of friends in 1993 who wanted to make it easier for fans in the local area to get to games and the number of members has grown ever since.

Many of the members were at the AGM where they looked back at the figures from last year and re-elected Lynda Courts and Nigel Davidson to run the club for another year, a position they’ve held together since 2009.

The positive AGM meeting was followed by a Q+A with former Birmingham favourite Jerry Gill reminiscing on his time at the club, including the day he made his debut for the club and his surprise exclusion from the Worthington Cup Final against Liverpool in 2001.

At the end of the night Nigel Davidson spoke to Sports- Radio Birmingham to explain why he enjoys being a part of the supporters club and why others should get involved, “We’re a voluntary run supporters club, which means we are run by the fans for the fans so we keep it cost effective for our members.

“Over the years Redditch Blues have had some great memories;  our trip to Brugge in October 2011, taking seven coaches to Wembley for the 2010/11 Carling Cup Final and the fun nights where special guests come to talk like tonight.

“We had around 200 members last season and are always looking for more people to join from around the local area, but you don’t have to be from Redditch to get involved!”
