Blues ladies play their first home game of the season at Stratford Town’s DCS Stadium hoping to record a first win of the new WSL league campaign after an opening draw away at Chelsea Ladies.
After going out of the FA Cup during the week at 2012 League winners Arsenal suffering a 6-0 defeat, it was a welcome result to come away from Chelsea with at least a 1-1 draw but it could have been much more if the Ladies had taken the chances that came their way in an end to end game at Staines FC’s Ground.
Meanwhile Sundays opponents Lincoln Ladies have lost one and won one in last few weeks, winning in the quarter-final of the Fa Cup v Leeds United easily enough 4-0 at home, with the defeat also at home v Liverpool losing 1-0.
We could be set for another close game with Birmingham City Ladies hoping to remain unbeaten in the WSL against rivals Lincoln Ladies, With Rachel Williams in blistering goalscoring form Blues Ladies should edge the game but it certainly wont be easy.
Birmingham City Ladies
Manager Dave Parker will be looking for a further response from his team and could well promote Kirsty Linnet to the starting line up for the first time since signing in the summer and Melissa Lawley who started on the subs bench v Chelsea. Blues Ladies will still be without long-term absentee Karen Carney for possibly another couple of weeks at least.
New Boss Rick Passmoor will be hoping hs team get back to winning ways ahead of next weekends Fa Cup semi final, Passmoor will have a fitter midfield to choose from with new signing Hayley Bowden having a full weeks training under her belt with her new team and Sophie Walton back from suspension, otherwise only Meaghan Sargeant and Sophie Barker will be missing from the squad.
