WHO/WHAT ARE FORZA BLUES
1April 10, 2013 by Made In Brum
Forza Blues is a group aimed at getting BCFC fans to unite together to back the shirt for 90 mins, having a good laugh and enjoying the match whether we win lose or draw even though it is hard to enjoy the game if we lose. The key aim though is to unite BCFC fans and bring back that cauldron of noise that St Andrews was famous for.
Forza Blues was started by myself Paul Smith, towards the end of last season. I was a season ticket holder in the Paddock and for most of last season I sat there thinking to myself where has the atmosphere gone within the stadium. I decided to start a FaceBook page called ‘Lets get the atmosphere back at St Andrews’…. The page developed well and grew quickly, it was then decided that we needed to form a group, which we did, the name was voted for by a poll on the FaceBook page.
WHAT ARE THE INTENTIONS OF FORZA BLUES ?
The intentions of Forza are simple as I said before, to unite BCFC fans and bring back that cauldron of noise, There’s no hidden agenda, we’re just a group of Bluenoses trying to encourage all fans to back the shirt. Recently on the Forza Blues radio show, the Bluenose Legend Robert ( oi oi hoppy hoppy oi ) Hopkins said that he thought Forza Blues was a fantastic idea and stated that he believed that both fans and players should back the shirt, he explained that fans should get behind the team for the duration of the game and that players should not worry about the name on the back of the shirt but play for the badge on the front, if they do, then the name on the back will be remembered.
WHY DO YOU THINK SOME FANS DISLIKE FORZA BLUES ?
I think dislike might be a bit strong , we are all Bluenoses after all, I think it’s just some Bluenoses that don’t ‘get us’, I think it’s because some fans are experiencing their worst year of being a Bluenose, for the last 15 years we have either been playing in the Premier League or finishing in the Play-Offs as well as a nice little Worthington Cup win, I think it may seem alien to some of them to strongly back a losing team. We have noticed that attitude towards us is changing of late and the numbers are continuing to grow.
WHY DO YOU SIT IN GML5 ?
The reason for us sitting in the GML5 was simply because at the start of the season we asked supporters what would they like to see introduced , and the main thing was a an area where supporters could sit with their friends without restriction. The GML5 was the only area in the ground where this could be accommodated.
WHERE DID MEMBERS SIT BEFORE FORZA FORMED ?
I’m not too sure where all the members sat before they joined Forza. I sat in the paddocks and Tilton but the reason most have given is that they joined because they were fed up with being moaned at by Blues fans when they started singing etc .
WHERE ARE YOU SITTING NEXT YEAR ?
Next season we just don’t know yet, we have a meeting with the club in the early closed season to discuss where we will be sitting. It has been mooted Tilton/Kop Corner.
I really believe Forza has proved that it is not going anywhere( in terms of disbanding etc), we have completed the most difficult task and that is keeping together for the first season, we can only grow now , I do however think that the growth of the group depends on where we are situated next season.
Forza is good for the club and good for all BCFC supporters.

There are always going to be some fans who enjoy making fun of others and Forza Blues has had a lot of stick from them. I’m glad to see Blues fans trying to help their club and I’m glad that Forza haven’t been put off by their critics.
